Ending Brain Drain in WisconsinAs a UW-Madison student about to graduate, I have no doubt begun thinking about my future. I personally love Wisconsin. I was born and raised here, went to every level of school here, and I want to stay here and raise my own family within Wisconsin's borders. With that in mind, the next logical step in my life would be to find a good, well-paying job. While there are many great employers across the state, it worries me to see so many of my peers wanting, or having, to leave Wisconsin in search of greener employment pastures. The fact of the matter is Wisconsin needs more and better jobs if it wants to hang on to its brightest young minds...those same minds that go on to start and lead businesses, employ lots of people, and make lots of money, which in turn is reinvested in local communities. We need leaders like Mark Neumann who are committed to fostering a positive business climate by easing the tax burden on both individuals and businesses. Creating a good business environment would attract new employers to the area and encourage us young, enterprising, college grads to open up our own businesses here as opposed to going elsewhere like so many have. We need to foster the kinds of businesses that can sustain families and keep our brightest people in Wisconsin.
